Old allies drift apart as US bans Canada's dairy, alcohol and motorcycles

The US will restrict Canadian alcohol, dairy, motorcycles and mopeds starting September 29, plus limit Canadian access to major government contracts, after Canada imposed tariffs of 15-50% on $20 billion of American goods. Canadian PM Mark Carney says the escalation is accelerating efforts to diversify trade away from the US, including deeper ties with the EU.
