US to keep 50,000 troops in Middle East, deployment may extend to 2027: Report

The Pentagon is planning to extend its roughly 50,000-troop deployment in the Middle East through 2027 as the conflict with Iran continues, according to a letter sent to military families cited by the Wall Street Journal. The US has 19 warships and other assets in the region, and deployment lengths for some units have grown from nine to twelve months.
