Iran announces closure Strait of Hormuz until further notice

Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it closed the Strait of Hormuz on July 12 after firing on vessels, declaring the waterway sealed until the U.S. ends its regional activities. The chokepoint, through which roughly 20% of world oil passed before the conflict, will remain closed pending U.S. withdrawal.
